Adilene Ann Bohl

August 18,1926 – December 24, 2021

After a long, independent, gracious life Adilene Ann Bohl of Devine, Texas passed away on December 24th at the age of 95 in San Antonio, Texas.

Adilene was born August 18, 1926 to Alex Louis Paul Bohl and Dora Pauline (Schneider) Bohl. She was the third child of six children and was born on the Bohl family farm outside of Devine. Adilene attended and graduated from the Devine Public School System. She was a devout Roman Catholic all her life and belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine.

Adilene led a rich and full life that included employment as a teacher in public school systems in Texas, working for U.S. Civil Service in Texas and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, and a career with the U.S. Foreign Service with the U.S. Department of State. Her time with State Department was with the Agency for International Development and included serving in Amman, Jordan; Kabul, Afghanistan; Manila, Philippines; and Washington, D.C. Following retirement from the State Department, Adilene returned to Devine where she re-engaged with the community and cared for her mother.  Like Dora, family was Adilene’s joy; but she spread her love and happiness beyond her family.  Adilene was a great supporter and friend to many who cherished knowing her and spending time with her. Adilene will be remembered for her generous kindness, humbleness, and thoughtfulness of others.

Adilene is survived by her loving sister, Betty (Bohl) Ebrom of San Antonio, Texas and sister-in-law Margie (Morales) Bohl of San Antonio.  Adilene is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews some of whom considered Adilene their third grandmother.

Adilene was proceeded in death by her parents Alex and Dora Bohl; her siblings and their spouses: George and Tessie Bohl, Laura (Bohl) and John Maney, Margie (Bohl) and Pete Irwin, Richard and Barbara Bohl, and brother-in-law Charles Ebrom.
