David Wayne Childress

David Wayne Childress passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 in Atascosa, Texas. He was born August 24, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas.  David attended South San High School.  During his Senior year he quit to join the Coast Guard where he served for 4 years.  When he came home, he met Marsha Spaeth.  They married November 26, 1966, and were married for 56 years.

David worked at CPS for several years then went to Merchants Fast Motor Lines as a truck driver, when the company closed, he then went to work for Constanzo Farms delivering vegetables to HEB.  David loved a good meal - steak and potatoes and cherry pie.  He enjoyed hunting, tinkering with machines and sharing a beer with his family and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald W. Childress; parents, Anderson and Ruth Childress.  David is survived by his wife, Marsha Childress; daughter, Karen Crain and husband, Jeff; 2 grandsons, Joshua and wife, Holly and Jacob; sister, brother, niece as well as numerous cousins and a lifetime of friends. 

A Graveside Service will be on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Blackhill Cemetery in Lytle, Texas.
