Dennis Dean Splawn

October 6, 1967 — September 11, 2021

Dennis Dean Splawn, 53, of Rocksprings, TX, passed away on September 11th, 2021.

Dennis was born on October 6th, 1967  to Denver & Elsie Splawn in Freer, TX.

He graduated and grew up in Devine, TX. Eventually moved to Rocksprings, TX  where he would call this town “home.”

He had a wild and rebel spirit. The man loved everything that had to do with outdoors. Anything that involved hunting and fishing you better believe he was about it. He also loved causing chaos. To everyone that knew him, they knew him as “Uncle D” he wasn’t just his families “Uncle D” he was everyone’s “Uncle D” whether they were blood or not.. Those that knew him loved him like no other. Even when he wasn’t the easiest to love. He could literally make you love him and hate him all at the same time.  When you were with him though it was always a good time.  He could make you laugh til you cried and tell stories like no one else could. He was a man of wisdom, knew the Bible like the back of his hand, had a passion for music, stood for what he believed in, and absolutely hated electronics especially cellphones.

Dennis was preceded in death by his Father Denver D. Splawn, Mother Elsie M.  Splawn, Brothers: Cecil Tillman, Denver D. Splawn Jr. Sisters: Cindy Zimmerman, Camille Wilson, Helen Splawn. Nephew: Jeffery Tillman.   He is survived by his children: Allison, Denver, Jodi, and Dixie Splawn. Sister: Mistee Splawn.  Granddaughter: Jade S. Splawn. Nephews: Paul Allen Wilson,  Jacob and wife Michelle Cashion, Colby and wife Bobbie Cashion, Erich Zimmerman, And David Splawn. Nieces: Carrie and husband Jeff Cooper, Holly Brock and husband Jay Jackson, Sondee and husband Fidel Moreno Jr. Great Nephews: Austin Cooper, Tres, and Stetson Moreno, Van and Tristan Cashion. Great Nieces: Kaitlyn Cooper, Emily, Reese, and Riley Cashion, and Bailee Moreno.

To the living, I am gone,

To the sorrowful, I will never return,

To the angry, I was cheated,

But to the happy, I am at peace,

And to the faithful, I have never left.

I cannot speak, but I can listen.

I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.

So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,

As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,

Remember me.

Remember me in your heart:

Your thoughts, and your memories,

Of the times we loved,

The times we cried,

The times we fought,

The times we laughed.

For if you always think of me, I will never be gone.
