Dolores Varnum

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Dolores Varnum who passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on July 18, 2025.

Dolores had a heart of gold. Her dedication to her family and the Lord was of utmost importance in her life. Her longtime friends and Sunday School friends were very special to her. Dolores had a generous spirit that radiated warmth and compassion. She was a light in every life she touched.

She enjoyed gardening, literature, fashion, and cooking. Her volunteer work at Devine Hospice and her Sunday School classes also brought her joy.

Dolores is survived by her four children, Lisa Schmidt and late husband Darrel Schmidt, Kelly Wagner and husband Mark Wagner, Calvin Varnum and wife Sherry Varnum, and Mike Varnum and wife Eva Varnum. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews. Dolores is also survived by her sister Ruby Rhodes and her brother James Turner. Her love and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life for Dolores will be held at The First Baptist Church of Devine on July 31, 2025, at 10:00 A.M.

Dolores made one request: no black. She requested bright, meaningful colors.
