Gloria Hickman

Gloria (Pugs) Hickman, 69, of Devine, Texas, was welcomed into heaven on July 18, 2025.

Gloria was born in San Antonio, Texas, to JoDean and David Hickman. Gloria was the youngest of 4. Natalia, Texas, is where she called home. She attended school there and later became the secretary of the city. After some time in that role, she then started her career with Frost Bank, where she built friendships and curated memories over the years.

She met her partner, Guadalupe Fernandez of Devine, Texas. Together in 1979, they welcomed their daughter Barbara Loraine Fernandez, the younger sister of Tom and David Fernandez.

Gloria had a heart of gold. She felt so strongly for the people she loved. She would be your loudest cheerleader, your voice of reason, & the person you wanted in your corner. Gloria wore many hats and juggled all of her great-grandbabies with ease and grace. Her love for her babies is what kept her heart pounding. She wore the 'granny badge' with such pride and honor. She loved to have all of her family together, eating good food and having wholesome conversations. Her love for rock & roll, leather, and her red Miata sports car is what set this granny apart from the rest. She was unforgettably her; her infectious smile and spunky personality made her presence comforting & memorable. Gloria was a kind, loving soul that will be missed dearly.

Gloria Hickman was preceded in death by her mother, JoDean Hickman; father, David Ellis Hickman Sr.; brother, David Ellis Hickman Jr.; sister, Judy Loraine Wheeler; and daughter, Barbara Loraine Fernandez Carrillo.

She is survived by her partner, Lupe Fernandez; sons, Jesus Francisco Carrillo (wife Jessica), Tom Fernandez (wife Geralie), David Fernandez (Jen); sister, Barbara Navarro; best friends, Janice Angst & Rebecca Rice. Gloria was a cherished granny to Shelby Carrillo, Cannon Carrillo, Jaxon Carrillo, Payden Fernandez, & Austin Fernandez. Gloria was blessed with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.

A visitaion will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5:00 PM. to 9:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Services in Devine, Texas.
