Jacqueline "Jackie" Richey

Jackie was born December 20, 1947, in Racine, Wisconsin and passed peacefully into eternal life on September 1, 2026, at her home in Pearsall, Texas at the age of 78.

She was the only daughter of Ervin Curt Exner and Alma Emilie Splett.

She was welcomed home on Christmas Day by 3 older brothers, Erville, Duane and Roger.

Roger immediately wanted to take her swimming as they only lived a block away from Lake Michigan. Of course, he wasn’t allowed to and Jackie never did learn how to swim.

She gave birth to her daughter Nicole Lynn Prochniak on March 6, 1968, in Racine, Wisconsin, a son Gregory Alan Browell on February 7, 1972, in Racine, Wisconsin and a son Zachary Lee Mozley on February 11, 1978, in Amarillo, Texas where she moved in 1976.

Around the end of 1978, Jackie moved to San Antonio for a short while before finding her comfort zone in Pearsall, Texas on December 31, 1982.

Her son Zachary Lee Mozley passed away in a boating accident on Lake LBJ on April 23, 1983, at the age of 5 while visiting his father.

She was blessed to obtain a spot in the very first LVN class at Frio Hospital in Pearsall, where she completed her training under Harriet Manicon and Devera Edwards. She continued to work at Frio Hospital and in 1990, she found and married David Hartley Richey, the love of her life on September 22, 1990.

She then began working in Home Health Hospice.

In 1994, Jackie and Dave stepped up to help raise 3 of their grandsons. They both continued to work in healthcare and Jackie then took a position with Methodist Healthcare Ministries as a Wesley nurse, serving the community of Cotulla at the Methodist church where she felt she had many encounters with the Holy Spirit. She was also a very active member of the Pearsall Methodist Church.

In 2006, she became involved in the Kairos Prison Ministry and let me tell you, she WAS the cookie queen!!

In 2009, she had a stroke which sadly ended her career just prior to her and Dave moving into their new fully heated and air-conditioned home at 1315 E. Brazos St.

Jackie remained active in her church as the snack lady for Wonderful Wednesdays, attended Bible studies and remained active in Kairos Prison Ministry.

She contracted COVID in 2021 and was put on continuous oxygen which didn’t totally stop her but did make her slow down quite a bit.

In the fall of 2025, she had 2 falls. One resulted in a broken wrist, the second resulted in a broken neck. This second fall severely limited her mobility, and she became mostly homebound which greatly saddened her.

She was very interested in finding her ancestors and would always ask her daughter if she had found any new cousins lately!

We will miss her tremendously.

She will always be remembered and forever loved.

Daughter Nicole Prochniak (Marc Percell) Grandsons Ryan Worden and Jonah Baunoch. Great grandsons William Worden, Levi Baunoch and Carson Baunoch, Great granddaughters Milo Worden and Alyssa Worden.

Son Gregory Browell (Esther Campbell) Granddaughters Victoria (Lucas) Pena and Ashley (Tyler) Tundell, Great grandsons Brian Pena, Lucas Pena and Milo Tundell, Great granddaughters Kaylee Pena and Penelope Pena.

Stepdaughter Brandi (Blake) Slater, Step-granddaughters Daneylle (Travis) Cathcart and Hannah Burke.

Brother Roger’s wife Carol and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents Ervin (1984) and Alma (1987), her brothers Erville Exner (1992), Duane Exner (2011), Roger Exner (2018), her son Zachary Lee Mozley (1983) and her grandson Zachary Lee Worden (2015).

Per Jackie's wishes, there will be no traditional funeral services. Mom wanted a "Coffee and Kringle With Jackie" memorial service so that is what the family will be doing. Tentatively scheduled for later in the fall, around mid-December. Notification will be made via the Pearsall newspaper and social media.
