John Edmund Stacy

John Edmund Stacy, 86, returned to his Maker on August 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, hard work, love, and devotion to his family and friends.

John was born at home in Goldfinch on October 8, 1939, to Wesley Edgar Stacy and Pauline Lucille Geyer Stacy. A farmer and rancher at heart, John loved the land and especially loved the Goldfinch country. The outdoors was an important part of his life, and some of his happiest times were spent hunting, fishing, ranching, and enjoying the country he called home.

John was a generous and loving man who valued the people in his life. He had a special gift for conversation and could spend hours on the telephone visiting with his close friends, sharing stories, catching up on life, and simply enjoying their company. Those long conversations reflected the importance he placed on friendship and staying connected to the people he cared about.

John was a devoted Christian whose faith was at the heart of his life. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, he loved the Lord deeply and carried his faith with him through every season. His relationship with Jesus Christ gave him strength in difficult times, gratitude in times of blessing, and the assurance that he was never walking alone. His Christian faith could be seen in the way he loved his family, valued his friendships, and generously cared for the people in his life. He trusted in God's promises and knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. That steadfast faith remained a source of comfort and hope throughout his life and now brings peace to those who loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing that John's earthly journey has ended, but his eternal life in the presence of the Lord has begun.

Above all, John loved his wife, Alice "Kitty" Vaughan Stacy. His love for Kitty, his family, and the life they shared remained at the center of his world. Fittingly, some of John's final words were about his beautiful wife, Kitty, whom he loved so very much, a tender reflection of the love that remained in his heart until the very end.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Edgar Stacy and Pauline Lucille Geyer Stacy; his brother, Clifton Stacy; his sisters, Doris Rankin and Jean Beall; his son-in-law, Paul Chavez; and his son, James Dale Stacy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kitty; his children, Alan Brett Stacy, Lauri Nell Chavez, Frances Sherrie David (Forrest), and John Eric Stacy.

John also leaves behind his grandchildren, Lynda Rae Hays, Bryan Alan Stacy, Alyssa Christine Chavez (Eddie Cavazos), Hunter Sage McClain, Colton James Donnell (Bethany), and Westin Lee Donnell; and his great-grandchildren, Kylie Brown, Rowdie Hays, Scarlett Cavazos, and Isabella Cavazos.

John's life was rooted in the land, family, friendship, and the simple things he loved most. He will be remembered for his generosity, his love for Kitty and his family, his enjoyment of hunting and fishing, his long conversations with treasured friends, and his deep affection for the Goldfinch country.

Though his earthly work is finished, the stories he told, the land he loved, the friendships he nurtured, and the family he cherished will carry his memory forward.

John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
