Manuela Frausto Longoria
June 25, 1930 – April 7, 2026
Manuela was born in Pearsall, Texas to Medardo and Jovita Longoria.
Her life was a beautiful story of faith, devotion, and unconditional love for her family and God. As a faithful servant of the Lord, she was a constant and dedicated presence at her Catholic church, fulfilling many roles over the years – walking there in rain or shine without hesitation. She spent the majority of her life in Pearsall, working as a domestic worker for multiple families and helping with childcare. For a period, she worked in San Antonio at Fort Sam Houston, but her heart always called her back to Pearsall, her home.
She never married, yet her love knew no bounds. She cared tenderly for her parents until they passed. In every sense of the word, she was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. Though she had no children of her own, she poured her heart into family – praying for them daily, welcoming them with an open door, and always having a warm meal ready when family came to visit. Every Christmas, she filled their homes with the warmth and love of her homemade tamales, a tradition that will never be forgotten.
Manuela was a pioneer well ahead of her time. On a modest income, she built a home for herself and her mother, paving the way for the women in her family through her quiet strength and determination.
As an avid gardener, she found joy in the outdoors, nurturing beautiful flowers all around her home.
In her final years, Manuela was lovingly cared for by her family in San Antonio.
She was a woman of deep prayer, gentle spirit, and enduring grace.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Medardo and Jovita Longoria, and her sisters, Alvina Longoria and Mary Pais. She is survived by her brother, Medardo Longoria Jr., and a large and loving family of nieces and nephews.
Heaven has gained a treasured soul. Her spirit will live on in the traditions, the tamales, the gardens, and the memories she leaves behind. We find comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with those she loved – and that she will live forever in our hearts.
A visitation will be held on April 16, 2026, from 8:00 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish in Pearsall, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 A.M., and after a Celebratory Funeral Mass Will take place at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Pearsall Catholic West Cemetery, located in Pearsall, Texas.
Please join us in celebrating the life Manuela so dutifully cared for and loved.
