Margarita Quiroz Dominguez

Margarita Quiroz Dominguez was born in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico on February 9, 1932, to Leandro and Maria Quiroz. When Margarita was two years old, her mother became very ill and passed away. She went to live with her grandmother, Pilar Guardiola until the age of eight then went with her father to the United States. Reunited with her father and his wife, Rafaela, Margarita eventually met the "love of her life", Cipriano Dominguez, Sr. Margarita and Cipriano were married on March 2, 1946, in Pecos, Texas. Margarita was 14 and Cipriano was 29 when they married, beginning a beautiful bond that would span nearly six decades. Her father had to grant permission and sign for her to marry Ciprano due to her age.

Margarita was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Cipriano Dominguez, Sr. her parents Leandro and Maria Quiroz, her siblings Esperanza Garcia, Cruz Quiroz, Katarina Pedraza and her son in law, Joe Henry Ortega. Margarita is survived by her four children, her eldest son Cipriano Dominguez, Jr. and wife Vera of Georgetown Delaware, her eldest daughter Rosa Ortega of Houston, Texas, her son Salvador Dominguez and wife Maricela of Lytle, Texas and daughter Rosie Carreon of Lytle, Texas. Margarita is also survived by 21 grandchildren, Monica Hixon, Laura Cardenas, Corina Quintanilla, Cipriano Dominguez III, Annette Canales, Chriselda Barrientes, Sandra Ortega, Sonia Brown, Salvador Dominguez Jr. Daniel Dominguez, Elizabeth Garcia, Roxanne Ayala, Jennifer Bojorquez, MichaelGarcia, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Margarita was dedicated to raising her children by ensuring they were always properly cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Throughout her life, Margarita's unconditional and unwavering love and support was felt by her family, many friends, neighbors and various members of her Catholic community. She was actively involved in both St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Lytle and St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia, Texas. For over 40 years Margarita organized and led prayer groups in both communities. She was then formally recognized by the Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas as the recipient of an Annual Bishop's Award for her involvement and leadership in these prayer groups. Margarita was also a member of a Catholic Prison Ministry Group that visited various prisons in the state of Texas for over 11 years. She was truly a "Prayer Warrior" that loved, prayed and ministered to anyone that was sick or just needed prayer. People would often ask her how she stayed and looked so young, she would playfully answer that she took her daily Vitamin J - Vitamin Jesus.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, a devoted mother, pillar of the community and true woman of faith, let us remember Margarita Dominguez for the spiritual impact she made on the lives of countless family members, neighbors and friends by the enduring love and wisdom she shared with everyone that knew her. May she rest in eternal peace with her legacy living on in the hearts of those she touched. Those who knew her well know her favorite scripture she would quote repeatedly was Matthew 22:37 "You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."

Family and friends are invited to join us for a public viewing on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at Primrose Funeral Services of Lytle, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Lytle, Texas. Services will conclude at the church and Margarita will be buried with her beloved Cipriano in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.
