Margie Ann Barthold Cook of Atascosa, Texas passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 after a several month battle with the consequences of dementia from brain bleeds and internal bone infections. The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation to cooperating staff of the hospitals, hospice, and home health care agencies for their kindness and assistance during Margie's medical difficulties.

Margie was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 21, 1948 and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1966. She was the loving wife of Olin R. Cook for 36 plus years before his passing in 2021.

Margie's employment career began in the civil service field at Lackland AFB in 1966 and concluded at Kelly AFB as a defense procurement manager in 1993. Afterwards, Margie enjoyed immersing herself in life on their farm, traveling throughout the United States and also using her sewing talents to open Cook's Design Quilt Shop, creating many beautiful quilts and teaching others to enjoy this creative outlet.

Margie is survived by her sister, Dorris E. McCoy (Fred) of Reading, PA, and brother, Edwin O. Rennspies, Jr. of Schertz, Texas. She was predeceased by sisters, Deborah K. Mann of Schertz, Texas, and sister, Janice Marie Dennis (David) of San Antonio, Texas. Although having no children of her own, she became like a second mother to nephews, Eddie Dennis, Matthew McCoy, and Mark McCoy.

Margie also warmly welcomed Olin's grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher, and Michelle as her own. She was predeceased by her birth father, Gilbert Barthold, mother Hertha Harlohs (Chester) Williamson and bonus dad, Edwin O. Rennspies, Sr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Primrose Funeral Services 14822 Main St, Lytle, Texas, 78052, (830-709-0698) on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:30p.m. preceded with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bexar Cemetery, Benton City Road, Somerset, Texas. The Rev. Barbara L. Bartling, Pastor of Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, Kingwood, Texas and Margie's Goddaughter will officiate.

To celebrate Margie's love of gardening, flowers are welcomed or memorial donations may be made to Somerset Baptist Church, PO Box 99, Somerset, Texas 78069, sponsor of Bexar Cemetery.
