Maria R. Elizondo

Our beloved mother, Maria R. Elizondo, Pearsall, Tx., was called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the age of 94. “Mamá”, as she was lovingly called, was a homemaker who raised seven children while helping our father to farm and ranch to support the family. She was a devoted servant to our Lord. She was always there to support us when we needed a guiding hand and to provide kind and loving words when we most needed them. If it was a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, or any other special occasion, it was always important to her to give a gift or to call to offer her best wishes. Family was everything to her and it made her happy to see her family come together in celebration and love. If it was family, friends, or acquaintances, she would always greet them at the door with a smile, handshake, and hug and an offer of food and beverage. She will be forever in our hearts.
Mamá was born in Devine, Tx. on September 12, 1925 to Alfredo and Casimira Cabasos Rodriguez. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Pedro N. Elizondo Jr., and three brothers, Jose Rodriguez, Nicolas Rodriguez, and Pete Rodriguez.
Mamá is survived by her children, Teresa Guerra, Albert Elizondo, Jesse Elizondo, Raymond Elizondo, Frank Elizondo, Ruben Elizondo, and Jo Ann Garcia, her brother Fermin Rodriguez and sisters Fidelia Longoria, Guadalupe Sanchez, Isabela Cubriel, Margarita Tonsul, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel from 2 pm to 9 pm with the rosary to be recited at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall with interment to follow at the Chilipitin family cemetery in Charlotte. Pallbearers are Robert Elizondo, Thomas Elizondo, Rick Elizondo, John Paul Guerra, Raymond Elizondo, Jr., Andy Garcia, Edward Elizondo, and Jesse Elizondo Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Martha Elizondo Avalos, Amanda Guerra, Becky Elizondo, Kelly Garcia, and Cassondra Elizondo.
