It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Raul Gomez on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Paul Raul Gomez was born on August 29, 1946, to Jesus Gomez & Maria Sauceda Gomez in La Sejita, TX.
Paul was drafted into the Army, where he served mainly in Korea from 1967 to 1969, while serving with the First of the 38th Infantry Regiment/2nd Infantry Division.
One of his passions was coaching fast-pitch softball. He mentored many girls not only in Devine but in all the surrounding communities. If he wasn't coaching sports, he was watching it! He never missed a Texas Longhorn or Dallas Cowboys game!
His greatest passion in life was following his son's journey through high school, college, and on to being Devine High School's head football coach. Watching not only his son, Coach, but also his grandsons play in all their extracurricular activities brought him immense joy. Being a Dad and Grandfather was the proudest role of his life.
Paul is survived by his wife, Norma Gomez; his son, Paul Jessie Gomez and fiancée Amy Hernandez; son (nephew) Johnny Rodriguez (Michelle); his siblings Ramiro Gomez and Rachel Lopez. Grandchildren Matthew, Marcus, Mason, Isabella, Cassandra, and Hailey, along with many nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Gomez & Maria Sauceda Gomez; his siblings, Roel Gomez, Roberto Gomez, Reynaldo Gomez, Rodolfo Gomez, and Rebecca Lopez.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. with a Rosary recited at 11:00 A.M. at Primrose Funeral Services of Devine, Texas, with a Committal Shelter Service held at 2:15 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
