Listen to Obituary

Robert Larry Barker, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Atascosa, Tx on Friday, January 9, 2026. He was born in San Antonio, Tx on August 18, 1952, to Robert Erin Barker and Jerry Nell (Poor) Barker.

Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Denise; three children Clint (Dawn) Barker, Luke (fiancé Amanda) Barker and Jenna (Kenny) Keylich; seven grandchildren (Kristen, Ryan, Jonas, Colt, Emma, Cooper and Emery); sisters Linda (Zackie) Bishop and Nancy (Dale) Allen; brother and sisters in-law Devalyn (Anthony) Amons; Mark (Linda) Blow, Deanna (Robert) Villafranca; Robin Thompson and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert Erin Barker and mother Jerry Nell (Poor) Barker; father-in-law Clyde Blow and mother-in-law Joan (Moy) Blow and his brother-in-law Jeffrey Thompson.

Larry was a 1970 graduate of McCullom High School. He spent a lot of time racing up and down Military Drive, where he met his wife, Denise. He spent 37 years with the Air National Guard and retired as Chief Master Sergeant of the 149th Fighter Wing. When he wasn't loading bombs onto F-16 fighter jets, you would find him in his garage trying to make his hot rods go just as fast. When he wanted to slow it down (just a little), you would find him on his tractor shredding the fields, belting out some good ol' classic country music. He enjoyed his time on the Barker ranch and turned his home into his own paradise.

Larry was a man of integrity and always did what was right. He will be dearly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him.
