Upon leaving City of Devine, he then bought a machine to make floor tile and it was then that he started building his forever home. Mr. Charlie Garrett and Melba Sollock assisted him in getting his US citizenship and with their assistance, they were able to get him his job at Kelly AFB when he retired after 20 years of service. Roberto would always be helping the community in any way possible. He joined the Devine Volunteer Fire Department where he and his wife would make LOTS of bean and cheese tacos for the homecoming games at Warhorse stadium for donations.

In the 80's, he bought property in Sullivan City, TX and sold several lots which allowed him to buy material to put up a 40' by 100' warehouse. He then sold that warehouse and was able to then build Reyna's Welding in Devine where he and his son, Robert had it for 34 years. You could always see him building his bar-b-que pits at the shop any time you went there, he really enjoyed making bar-b-que pits, it was something that always kept him going.
