Russell Todd "Rusty" Furnace went to be with the Lord during the early morning hours of Monday, August 21, 2023. Rusty entered into heaven peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Rusty was born on July 25, 1950 in Bryan, Texas to Albert and Pauline Furnace, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons, Justin and Russell, daughter-in-laws, Lori and Tonya; grandchildren, Conrad, Cameron, Cooper, Raegan and Bailee. He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Susan McCourt, husband Mark, Donna Soape, husband Roger, Lori Loobeck, husband Ron, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rusty lived for the south Texas brush country of Frio county, and more specifically, white tailed deer. His knowledge and expertise of the species all but took him to a legendary status. A retired Landman, rancher, avid hunter and guide, ensured the majority of his life was spent in the brush. Rusty was a pillar in the south Texas hunting world, being heavily involved in some of the first commercial hunting operations in the state. In short, Rusty had the ability and knowledge to put hunters on 200" deer when 200" deer didn't really exist.
Rusty's wishes were to have no funeral services and to be cremated. His ashes will be spread across his ranch, per his request.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice for their expertise, compassion, and respect while caring for Rusty.
The family would also like to recognize and thank Mrs. Lori Jean Keck for her constant support and assistance from day one.
Go Rest High on That Mountain, Rusty!
