Shirley Dianne Favor

Shirley Dianne Favor, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Shirley is survived by her husband of more than forty years, Donald Favor; her son, Dennis Barrow, and daughter-in-law, Heather Barrow, along with their three children, Lauren, Lily, and Connor; her stepdaughter, Cindy Fisher, along with her children, Gabrielle, Katherine, and Edward; her stepdaughter, Renise Watkins, along with her children, William and Elizabeth; and her great-granddaughter, Byrklee Decker. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lillie and Hilmar Eisenhauer, and her daughter, Laura.

Shirley was born on June 1, 1947, in Hondo, Texas. She grew up in Pearsall and later in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from MacArthur High School. She then attended Southwest Texas State College where she earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education.

Shirley dedicated her life to the education and development of thousands of children in the San Antonio area. Her career as a first-grade teacher and later as a reading specialist after her retirement spanned over 50 years. Shirley’s love for children and education impacted generations of students. Nothing brought her more joy than helping children and teaching them to read.

Shirley was best known for her devotion to her family, her commitment to her faith, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She spent much of her time with those she loved and on her family ranch, where she found joy and purpose.

Services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 819 E. Brazos, Pearsall, Texas, followed by a committal at the Pearsall Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
