Virginia C. Rodriguez

Virginia C. Rodriguez, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friends entered rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in San Antonio at the age of 64. She was born in Pearsall on September 11, 1955, to Bencelado and Anita (Ramon) Cervantes and is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rene Cervantes, Luis Cervantes Sr., Alfonso Cervantes Sr. and her sister, Elvia Perez.

She was St. Joseph’s Catholic Church secretary in Dilley for 28 1/2 years, from September 1989 to March 2018. She was selfless and always put others before herself, even after her death she will continue helping others as a donor.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

Virginia is survived by her husband, Lupe Rodriguez of 48 years; daughter, Janie Anis and husband Gerald; brothers, Mario Cervantes Sr. and wife Letty, Robert Cervantes Sr. and wife Sara; sister, Susanna Frost and husband Jack; grandsons, James Anthony Rodriguez and April Bogus, Jonathan Marc Anis; great granddaughter, Emily Jade Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17, 2019, in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2019, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dilley with interment to follow in the Dilley Cemetery. Pallbearers are James A. Rodriguez, Jon M. Anis, Mario Cervantes Jr., Jimmy Lozano, Joey Arredondo, Ashton P. Flynn and Esai Lozano.
