Listen to Obituary

Woodrow (Woody) Wilson Glover, Jr., 84, passed away on February 15, 2026, at University Hospital in San Antonio, surrounded by family and friends.

Woody was born on October 29, 1941, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Woodrow Wilson Glover, Sr. and Frances Addie Lumbley. The oldest of six children, Woody was only three years old when his father was killed in World War II. His mother was left to raise two children (Woody and Sue) on her own. She later remarried and had four more children: Mikey, Jerry, Dana, and Phillip Vineyard.

In April 1967, he married Linda Darlene Rutherford, and together they raised two children, Christine Mischelle Glover and Justin Wade Glover. Woody and Linda later divorced and went their separate ways, marrying other spouses, but eventually reconnected many years later and remained close until his death.

Woody was a truck driver for many years, a career that took him on many memorable adventures. After retiring from truck driving, he spent much of his time at flea markets. You could find him there every Sunday morning, rain or shine. He loved his "treasures," as he called them (never junk!).

If he wasn't at a flea market, he was likely at a gun show, sometimes traveling several hours from home. He was a proud member of the NRA and an avid hunter, often leaving our mother wondering if they were even married, as he could be gone for days at a time, long before cell phones made staying in touch easy. But we sure did love the venison he brought home, especially the backstrap Mom would fry up. Mom and Dad always said it was the only red meat Justin and I would eat.

Woody also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousin, Ruben (R.B.) Carnes -more like an older brother- and R.B.'s family. The stories they shared were unforgettable. In his later years, he continued hunting and fishing with his "adopted" son, Eric Boenker. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he was always there for his family.

Woody was a Mason and a member of the Somerset Lodge for 44 years, which later led him to join the Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Frances; his brothers, George Michael Vineyard, Gerald Wayne Vineyard, and Phillip Michael Vineyard; and his sister, Suzanne Eva Duffin.

He is survived by his former wife of 30 years, Linda (Rutherford) Shoemaker; his sister, Dana Kay Krueger; his beloved dog, Murphy; his children, Christine Mischelle Glover and her friend Sean, and Justin and his wife Sharon; his "adopted" son, Eric Boenker and his wife Lisa; he is also survived by his cousins, Grace Carnes, Pam Shuler (Pammy), and Janet Wendell and family; and several other cousins; his grandchildren, Coleton Martin (Krystle), Darren Glover, and Katie Glover; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Fly with the eagles, Daddy.
